First time for everything

I have several family members who have their own blog...being one who likes to try things, here's mine. I want to start with a disclaimer that I teach Kindergarten and have one son. You may only see things on this blog about children under 6. I'm hoping the Cave of Wonders will help me vent a little about school stuff...as my ever-patient husband has heard it all (several times) and doesn't complain but has started tuning out my yakking.

I love all my students (just as you love your children), but there are times when I want to pull my hair out (just as you love your children). I also have a few students who are challenging in ways I'm still learning to cope with...I don't handle defiance well...guess what, I have a often-defiant student. Keep in mind these kids are 5 and 6 years old, but there are times when I wonder if their parents forget that.

Just imagine...it's 17 degrees outside, the snow is falling - no swirling - all around. You drive your Kindergartener to school, but forget to grab your child's coat and backpack!! I understand that sometimes you might walk out without your head if it wasn't attached, but your five-year-old can't completely fend for himself yet...HELLO!! Having said that, I will be the first to admit to forgetting important things. But by January, wouldn't a coat and backpack be habit?!

Anyway...I guess we all have our moments...I'm sure mine will be more pronounced when I have a Kindergartener and other children to love before school each morning. Patience is truly a virtue - I'm still practicing.
